Summer Webinar Series: Peter Marbach, photographer and author of “The Big River”

August 5, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

In this upcoming webinar on Wednesday August 5th at 6:00pm PDT, photographer Peter Marbach will share images, stories, and excerpts from essays from his recent book, “Healing The Big River – Salmon Dreams and the Columbia River Treaty.” In the book, readers are guided on a journey back in time to the origins of the 1,243 mile Columbia River from the source, a tiny spring in the Canadian Rockies, to the sea, and learn about the complicated history of the Columbia River Treaty. The photo essay has 12 contributing authors, a mix of leaders from first nations, tribes, and salmon recovery advocates. Each author writes eloquently about their relationship to the river and their hopes for a modernized treaty that that honors indigenous input and starts the process to restore salmon to the upper river.

DR Michel, a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, the Executive Director of the Upper Columbia United Tribes (UCUT) and the author of an essay in the book will also be joining the webinar. WaterWatch is honored to have DR available as a special guest to offer a tribal perspective on the Treaty and to field your questions.

We are pleased to be able to offer a free copy of “Healing The Big River – Salmon Dreams and the Columbia River Treaty” to the first 30 webinar attendees who make a donation to WaterWatch!
