Make a Gift Today to Support Our Work Freeing the Rogue

Dec. 20, 2024

As we showcase our 2024 End of the Year Accomplishments report, one campaign where WaterWatch continues to get big results is our long-standing effort to Free the Rogue from artificial barriers to native fish in order to bolster salmon and steelhead populations, enhance recreation and fishing opportunities, and increase resiliency to climate change.

For decades, WaterWatch has worked to remove priority fish barriers and improve flows in the Rogue River Basin, historically Oregon’s largest producer of salmon and steelhead outside the Columbia Basin. Over the least four years alone, WaterWatch has led the removal of 11 fish-impeding dams and culverts, including Pomeroy Dam on the Illinois River, Williams-Whalen Dam on Evans Creek, Lovelace Dam on Slate Creek, and Takelma Creek Dam.

Altogether, our successes in the Rogue Basin represent one of the most substantial dam removal and river restoration efforts undertaken in the U.S., and your support plays a huge role in ensuring the work to Free the Rogue can continue.

As we gear up for our 40th anniversary during 2025, you can help support WaterWatch and the health of Oregon’s rivers for the next 40 years by making an end-of-the-year gift today. Your donations are tax-deductible and directly support our mission to remove impediments to fish passage on Oregon’s rivers.

In fact, we offer a number of ways to give before the end of the year to meet your charitable giving goals:
