The weather is warming, flowers and trees are blooming, allergies are raging, water is flowing cold, and the spring issue of Instream is arriving in mailboxes now.
Featuring a cover photo of Mt. Hood and the Sandy River Valley by photographer Josemaria Toscano, each issue of Instream is a collaborative effort by the WaterWatch staff to share news and updates on water policy, legal work, legislative advocacy, and photos from recent events — including our 40th Anniversary Celebration last year.
Our spring 2026 issue marks the first of WaterWatch’s three newsletters slated for this year, with this issue featuring recent policy, program, and legislative updates, including:
- Good news for the North Umpqua River and its native fish in our ongoing campaign to remove Winchester Dam.
- Drought concerns following Oregon’s record low snowpack this winter.
- A major milestone on Harney Basin groundwater protection.
- WaterWatch’s advocacy to prevent passage of HR 655.
- How our work in Salem stopped a bad Columbia River bill.
- Climate resilience prioritized in a recent Governor Kotek executive order.
There’s also executive director Neil Brandt’s Stream of Consciousness column and our WaterWatch in the Community section. As always, previous issues of Instreamare available at WaterWatch.org.
If you’d like to make a one-time gift to WaterWatch online instead of utilizing the issue’s included remit envelope, you can make your contribution here, or at the button below. Even better, connect with our new development director Casey Armstrong to discuss donations and long-term giving strategies.
