Dec. 31, 2025
On this final day of 2025, the WaterWatch of Oregon team is taking stock of what was an otherwise challenging year, but also a busy and successful year for WaterWatch and Oregon’s rivers and water — plus we celebrated our yearlong 40th anniversary celebration.
As we count down the final hours to the New Year, there’s still time to secure a final tax deduction for your 2025 contributions. If you’re considering last-minute options for gifts or year-end tax write-offs, consider these options to support WaterWatch of Oregon before midnight:
- Use Your Credit Card — The most efficient and convenient option for making an end-of-the-year gift is via our donation page.
- Write a Check — For a 2025 deduction, your check date and the USPS postmark must be no later than today, Dec. 31st.
- Appreciated Securities — Contributions of appreciated securities like stocks, bonds, and mutual funds are tax-efficient and can be transferred to WaterWatch.
If you’re looking toward long-term giving options heading into 2026, consider these options:
- Planned Giving — Consider an estate gift to WaterWatch. Contact executive director Neil Brandt to go over your questions about current or future giving at (503) 295-4039 ext. 101.
- Workplace Giving — Some employers offer gift-matching programs for eligible nonprofits. If your employer doesn’t offer gift matching programs, let them know you’d like to start one to support WaterWatch of Oregon.
- Business Partnerships — WaterWatch business partners share our missionto preserve and protect Oregon’s rivers and streams, and get the recognition they deserve for doing so!
As we detailed in our 2025 Accomplishments Report, we defended our rivers in court in 2025, spoke for rivers in the legislature, continued our work in collaboratives throughout the state, made strides in the preservation of Oregon’s groundwater, completed our Pomeroy Dam removal project, helped get the update to the state’s Integrated Water Resources Strategy (IWRS) back on track, and advocated for the adoption of new instream water rights.
Year after year, your support for WaterWatch helps make this work possible, and it’s not too late to make a final gift to support cold, free-flowing Oregon rivers in 2025.
Please consider a special year-end donation to WaterWatch to help us protect and restore Oregon’s rivers before midnight this New Year’s Eve.
WaterWatch of Oregon is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Check with your financial adviser for more on giving before midnight, or to set up long-term giving in 2026. WaterWatch’s nonprofit tax I.D. number is 93-0888158.
