Join WaterWatch on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd, at 6:30 p.m. at Steeplejack Brewing in Portland as we welcome Springfield-based author and WaterWatch board member Jesse Lance Robbins as he reads selections from his new book The Best Fly Fishing is Everywhere and shares photos from his angling travels.
Jesse’s collection of essays, stories, and meditations moves beyond the pursuit of the
perfect cast or the biggest catch to explore fly fishing as a dialogue between human and nature, solitude and connection, movement and stillness. Former WaterWatch executive director John DeVoe will host the event and moderate a short discussion and Q&A with Jesse following the readings.

What the River Knows Documentary Screening

WaterWatch will co-host a screening with the Glen Canyon Institute of their documentary What the River Knows, a film that contextualizes the current moment of Colorado River policy, and explores the slow re-emergence of Glen Canyon as the waters of Lake Powell recede and reveal more of the landscape submerged — and thought lost forever — since construction of Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell reservoir began in 1956 and went online in 1963.
Join us for the Portland screening of What the River Knows at the PAM CUT Tomorrow Theater at 3530 SE Division St. in Portland on Saurday, Oct. 24th. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the program begins at 7 p.m. with a post-film panel discussion and audience Q&A. Tickets are $15.
