Across Oregon, compromised streamflows and fish passage barriers are threatening native salmon and steelhead, birds, amphibians, and wildlife — as well as disrupting the ecosystems and communities that depend on healthy rivers.
That’s why, for over 40 years, WaterWatch has worked to protect and restore natural streamflows and groundwater to ensure our rivers have enough water to meet human needs and are resilient to the effects of our warming climate, remain equitable to all Oregon communities, and meet the critical needs of fish and wildlife.
One way you can easily and effectively contribute to the sustainability of Oregon’s rivers is by making a gift to WaterWatch from your donor-advised fund (DAF).
Why use a DAF? Donor-advised funds are easy-to-use and tax-efficient, and the benefits include:
- Simplicity — DAFs are easy to establish and keep giving records in one place.
- Flexibility — you can choose your mode of contribution from cash, securities, or appreciated assets, as well as which organizations and causes to support, and when to give.
- Efficiency — Contributions qualify for same-year tax deductions and capital gains taxes are potentially eliminated, leading to increased charitable giving opportunities.
If you already have a DAF, recommend a grant to WaterWatch through your fund administrator by referencing our Tax ID 93-0888158. For more information on DAFs, see the Oregon Community Foundation, and the charitable sites of Fidelity, Schwab, or Vanguard as examples, or reach out to WaterWatch directly with any questions.
With your help, we’ll keep Oregon’s rivers running full, fast, and free — now and for future generations.
Please consult your tax or financial advisor for the specific tax treatment in your situation for any gift.
