As the reds, yellows, and oranges of fall reach their peak and cooler weather returns, we’re pleased to announce the 16-page fall issue of our Instream newsletter is arriving in mailboxes now with stories and content you won’t find anywhere else.
Featuring a striking golden hour cover photo of the lower John Day River by WaterWatch board member Andy Archer, the fall issue of Instream is a collaborative effort by the WaterWatch staff to share news and updates on our ongoing policy and legal work, legislative advocacy, and photos from recent events — including our busiest summer ever in terms of appearances, events, and speaking engagements.
Our fall 2026 issue also features:
- The latest updates and legal moves in our effort to remove the 136-year-old Winchester Dam, the biggest fish killer on the North Umpqua River.
- A comprehensive article on the threats posed to longtime and effective Columbia River water right agreements.
- The need to make stockwatering limits for CAFOs permanent ahead of their planned expiration next year.
- A profile on longtime water attorney and WaterWatch board member Karl G. Anuta.
- Entries on our recent artist collaborations, WaterWatch’s new FLOW major donor program, and details on donating your car to WaterWatch.
- Updates on Bridge Creek Ranch, Grave Creek, and WaterWatch’s challenge to the Willamette Water Supply System’s Willamette River thermal trading plan.
As always, executive director Neil Brandt’s Stream of Consciousness column ties the issue together, but also tees up a special edition of WaterWatch Transitions as we say goodbye to retiring former executive director John DeVoe.
If you’d like to make a one-time gift to WaterWatch online instead of utilizing the issue’s remit envelope, make your contribution here or at the button below, or connect with development director Casey Armstrong to discuss long-term giving strategies or sponsorship opportunities for our 24th Annual Celebration of Oregon Rivers on Nov. 7th.
Enjoy your autumn, and the fall issue of Instream.
