Join WaterWatch of Oregon at Whitaker Ponds Nature Park in Northeast Portland for a Feather & FLOW birding walk on Saturday, Aug. 15th, at 9 a.m., led by birding guide, photographer, and author Eric Carlson, also known as Seymore Gulls. Birders of all experience levels are welcome to attend, and you can expect a relaxed, gentle pace with beginner-friendly bird identification.
Feather & FLOW is a welcoming, supportive environment with plenty of time to stop, listen, and share the joy of birding, and as a compact wetland and riparian zone that offers excellent opportunities to observe a wide variety of species, Whitaker Ponds is the perfect destination. Coffee and donuts will be also be provided at the event.

What to Expect
- Meet-up location: Whitaker Ponds Nature Park, 7040 NE 47th Ave, Portland.
- Parking: On-site parking is available.
- Transit: Public transit options are available nearby, check TriMet for routes.
- Surface: Paved sidewalks near the entrance, mostly unpaved dirt and gravel trails around ponds.
- Grade: Generally flat.
Binoculars and Optics
- A group scope may be available.
- Extra binoculars may be available in limited numbers.
- Binoculars are not required but you’re welcome to bring your own.
A suggested donation of $40 covers costs but any donation to WaterWatch of Oregon is valuable and welcome. Give what works best for you!

Eric Carlson, aka Seymore Gulls, is the founder of Birding for the People, a community-focused effort created to make birding welcoming and accessible. He leads walks throughout the Portland area and is the author of several birding books, including Backyard Birds West.
